The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development has named Stephen J. Mockler and Sarah F. Doscinski business development specialists working in partnership with the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership and the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments, respectively. Mockler of Hampden will serve northern Penobscot and Piscataquis counties and Doscinski of Farmington will work with businesses in Franklin and Somerset counties.

Mockler is responsible for maintaining relations with Maine companies to assess their needs and developing and administering plans in response to those needs. He also will provide employers in the two counties with access to state programs. Mockler has extensive business experience, most recently as operations manager with Hancock Lumber’s Pittsfield facility, where he oversaw all human resource, safety, production and financial aspects of the operation. He also has worked with Smith & Wesson Inc. in Houlton. Mockler holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in business administration from Husson College in Bangor.

Doscinski’s responsibilities include representing federal, state and local business resources to the region’s employers with the goal of enhancing the region’s economic growth. Having served as an assistant sales and marketing coordinator for Maine Technical Source of Yarmouth and the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce in Georgia as a member of the economic development team, she is experienced in advertising, promotion, and data and market analysis. Doscinski has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Simmons College in Boston.

John Wentworth, president of Moosehead Manufacturing Co. in Monson, has been named to the board of directors of the American Furniture Manufacturers Association. Wentworth was named to a three-year term at the groups annual meeting in New York in November. The AMFA is a furniture industry association that represents hundreds of U.S. manufacturers and suppliers.
