PRESQUE ISLE – The Maine Potato Growers Inc., recently reported record sales of $69 million and net income of $363,000 for fiscal year 2001, which ended June 30.

MPG also reported payment of $197,000 of patronage dividends, paid in a combination of cash and stock, as well as $102,000 in dividends on Class A Stock and Preferred Stock.

MPG is a diversified agricultural supply and marketing cooperative serving the needs of northern Maine potato growers and the Maine blueberry industry.

Marketing activities consist primarily of the purchase and resale of potatoes and grain. Supplies offered through the cooperative include fertilizer, agricultural chemicals, petroleum, farm equipment, packaging materials, retail hardware and building materials.
