Do you think the economy is going to improve or decline?

It will definitely get better. History shows that after each war where the economy has gone down, that after the war the economy goes back up.

Don Sparkman, Bangor

Of course it’s going to improve. It always does.

Helen Foss, Orono

Decline. Because of the signing of the NAFTA agreement by Clinton and Gore. Nobody back then thought down the line that all the material was going to be made cheaper overseas.

Tony Kaye, Greenbush

The economy will decline due to the fact that our taxes will go up because we have to pay for this war. People can’t pay any more taxes; we’ve already been taxed to the hilt.

Linda Woodworth, Sorrento

Decline. Money is tight now and the economy doesn’t look good. There’s a lot of people losing their jobs.

Jim Wood, Hermon

It’s on a decline. It’s doing exactly what happened in the ’70s. We see it a lot in our shop; there’s already a slowdown in clients.

Deb Jergens, Dedham

It’s going to take a gradual decline for a while and then incline. Christmastime will be good, but there will be a recession after Christmas.

Bill Thompson, Old Town

We’ve been established in a recession since March. This has just brought it to a full front, but we will survive.

Colleen Adams, Brewer
