WILTON – A 29-year-old man died and three others escaped as a fire swept through a home Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The man, who was visiting the home, was found near a door and may have been overcome by smoke while trying to escape, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Three others, including home owner Cheryl Hines and a 14-year-old girl, escaped, McCausland said. The girl, Felicia Williamson, suffered from smoke inhalation and her mother, Debra Foster, suffered a burn on her arm, he said.

A team of four from the State Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the fire that was reported at 10:28 a.m. on the Colby Mills Road. Investigators were trying to determine how, and where, the fire started.
