LEWISTON – An 18-year-old Lewiston man was being held in the Androscoggin County Jail following his arrest in connection with an armed robbery early Saturday at a convenience store.

A clerk at the Big Apple store on Main Street told police that a young male with a large knife in his hand entered the store shortly before 1:30 a.m. and demanded money.

Officers who were in the area at the time apprehended Wesley Edwards, who was spotted fleeing the scene. Police said all of the stolenmoney and cigarettes were recovered, and a 12-inch knife in Edwards’ possession was confiscated.
