BIDDEFORD – A 67-year-old fraternal organization’s clubhouse and the abutting property are for sale in an attempt to stave off financial ruin in the wake of illegal gambling sanctions.

The Rochambeau Club was one of six area clubs raided more than a year ago in a state police sting. It is awaiting word whether it will lose its beano license and permits to hold games of chance.

The club placed its South Street property on the market in two pieces.

Realtor Henk Labrie said a 13-acre parcel behind the clubhouse that abuts a nearby housing development, as well as the clubhouse and the 3 acres around it, were listed with his Kennebunk agency.

The 13-acre parcel is valued at $375,000 and the clubhouse, surrounding 3 acres and parking lot are worth about $775,000, said Labrie.
