PORTLAND – The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Local Union No. 334 has voted to endorse U.S. Rep. John Baldacci as the next governor of Maine, U.S. Rep. Tom Allen for re-election to Maine’s 1st District, and former state Sen. Chellie Pingree as the next U.S. senator from Maine. All three candidates are Democrats. Local No. 334 represents 650 workers across the state including the employees of Interstate Baking Co. (Wonder Bread) in Biddeford and J.J. Nissen in Brewer; Burnham & Morrill Baked Beans in Portland; and Schlotterbeck & Foss in Portland.

Also, state Sen. Michael Michaud, a Democrat who is running for the 2nd District seat being vacated by Baldacci, has been endorsed by the board of the Maine Council of Senior Citizens, which represents 1,000 members statewide.
