Limestone edges Madawaska in 3rd OT

LIMESTONE – Steven Hardwick made two steals and went coast-to-coast for a pair of layups midway through the third overtime to help Limestone Maine School of Science and Mathematics pull away from Madawaska 82-78 in schoolboy basketball action Tuesday night.

Madawaska’s Keith Cyr forced the third overtime when he grabbed a long rebound and nailed a 3-pointer as time expired. Hardwick sent the game into the second overtime when he made a steal and converted a traditional 3-point play.

Hardwick finished with 28 points. George Tamburello added 14, Josh Knoll scored 13, Josh Poisson netted 12 and Josh Stackhouse tallied 10 for the Eagles.

Cyr paced the Owls with 26 and Marc Garcia chipped in with 23 more. Jessie Morin contributed 10.
