CASWELL – State police detectives investigating the slaying earlier this week of an Aroostook County woman had nothing new to report Wednesday.

“At this point, we’re doing a lot of work both in Aroostook County and at the state police crime lab in Augusta, but there’s nothing to talk about publicly,” Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, said Wednesday afternoon.

Tara Bell, 27, was found stabbed to death Monday morning in the kitchen of her Libby Road home. A woman who had taken her children to Bell’s home, where Bell ran a child care service, found her, police said.

Investigators believe Bell was killed late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Evidence collected from Bell’s home is being analyzed in Augusta. Maine State Police detectives have been questioning friends, relatives and other acquaintances of Bell.
