CANAAN – Suzanne Dipasquale, 47, of Summer Street, Pittsfield, was killed instantly Thursday afternoon when she lost control of her Buick Regal and it slid into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer truck.

The crash took place about one-eighth of a mile west of the Sibley Pond Bridge on Route 2 in Canaan. Dipasquale was eastbound when she lost control on slush-covered roads, said Maine State Police Trooper Gary Wright.

Her vehicle spun around and was struck on the driver’s side by the front of a tractor-trailer as it attempted to pull to the right to avoid the car. “The car was basically T-boned,” said Wright.

Wright said both vehicles left the roadway on opposite sides and the tractor-trailer rolled over. The truck was owned by P&J Trucking of Danforth and was operated by Garry Higgins, 54, of Princeton. Higgins was uninjured, said Wright.

The trooper said road conditions are being considered the cause of the accident and that the crash is being reconstructed. Both vehicles were taken to the Maine State Police crime laboratory for vehicle autopsies as part of the investigation.
