CALAIS – The Calais Blue Devils used a swarming full-court press to create numerous turnovers and outscore Woodland 29-6 in the third quarter Friday night on their way to a decisive 68-38 girls basketball victory in a game between two 2001 state champions.

Lanna Martin led Class C Calais with 16 points, including eight in the third quarter, while Crystal Martin tallied 10 of her 15 points in the period. Katie Frost tossed in 13 points.

Woodland was without leading scorer Ashley Marble, who sat out after injuring her left hand in a Monday game against East Grand. Julia Knights paced the Class D Dragons with 13 points and Kaitlyn Leeman added nine.
