Day’s OT free throws lift John Bapst over Broncos

HAMPDEN – Wes Day scored a game-high 24 points, including the winning free throws with 10 seconds left in overtime, as John Bapst nipped Hampden Academy 67-65 Saturday night.

Bryan Snyder had 15 points for the winners. Andy Tremble and Zev Myerowitz combined for 16.

Justin DiFrederico scored 16 points for Hampden and Nick Paoletti chipped in with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Ben Keller netted 12 points.

Paoletti had six points in the fourth quarter while DiFrederico and Keller had five apiece to help Hampden erase an 11-point deficit and force the overtime.

A DiFrederico jumper tied it for the Broncos.

Ben Carton scored two goals for Houlton-Hodgdon while David Carmichael had a goal and an assist. Jared Sylva contributed a goal and Chris Austen tallied two assists. Nick Fitzpatrick faced 19 shots and stopped 14.

Bangor 0, Cony 0 (OT)

At Kennebec Ice Arena, Augusta, Dominic Dinardo made 41 saves for Bangor and Casey Tuttle stopped 14 shots in a shutout tie on Saturday.

At Alfond Arena, Orono, Bill Elliot led Presque Isle with two goals while Darren Carlisle added a goal and tallied four assists.

Steve LaPlante had a goal and an assist for the Wildcats while Reid McGlinn added a goal and Sean Daigle stopped 15 of 18 shots.

Josh Buzzell scored and had two assist s for Old Town while Josh Fournier scored a goal and had an assist. Nick Buck contributed with a goal while J.P. Stowe made 32 saves on 37 shots for the Indians.
