ELLSWORTH – A North Yarmouth man was in fair condition Monday at a Bangor hospital after being injured Sunday in a car accident on the Bucksport Road.

Peter Magoon, 21, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle west on Route 1 around 11 p.m. when the vehicle went off the opposite side of the road, hit a guardrail, went airborne and hit several trees, according to Officer Bart Tokas of the Ellsworth Police Department.

Magoon complained of facial and leg pain and was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he was listed in fair condition, according to hospital officials.

Magoon’s SUV received an estimated $14,000 in damage in the wreck, Tokas said. It is unknown whether he was wearing a seat belt.
