BANGOR – Ervin P. Dumond, of Orrington, a representative for Prudential Individual Financial Services in Bangor, has received a Prudential Community Champions Golden Star Award of $5,000 for the Bangor Christian Schools Foundation.

Dumond, in turn, presented the check to Rich Bach, principal, and the Rev. Dr. Jerry Mick, pastor of Bangor Baptist Church.

The Prudential Community Champions Awards Program, administered by the company’s Local Initiatives Division, is recognizing 892 Prudential employees and retirees who excel in volunteer commitment, leadership and service in their communities. The Prudential Foundation is providing more than $639,000 in grants to the organizations in which these associates volunteer.

As a volunteer with Bangor Christian Schools Foundation, Dumond donates an average of 40 hours per month in services.

Throughout his 10 years of service with the organization, he has served on a variety of committees and currently serves as president and chairman of the board of directors.

His efforts have helped expand athletic opportunities and facilities, add new classrooms to meet the increased demand of enrollment and form, organize and create a foundation to facilitate gift giving, sponsorships and donations.

Bangor Christian Schools aim to provide an alternative to standard public education through individualized instruction and family participation.
