SAINT JOHN, New Brunswick – NB Power’s nuclear generating station at Point Lepreau is expected to be back on line by late Friday.

The plant, located less than 30 miles from the Maine border, was shut down last Friday for the second time in less than a week when an oil leak was found in a hydraulic component of one of the reactor’s fueling machines.

With testing completed and the leak repaired, the reactor was in the refueling process Wednesday.

Apart from repair costs, NB Power pays $500,000 a day to replace lost electricity when Lepreau is down.
