The Santa’s Helper Fund has reached and surpassed its goal of raising $50,000 for The Salvation Army. With today’s donations, the total now stands at $50,404.47.

Such an outpouring of love, support and generosity is a true testament to the kindness that exists all around us. The lives of thousands of needy individuals, families and children have been comforted by the compassion of others this season. A significant portion of that comfort was delivered through the Santa’s Helper Fund.

Contributions received today include a box of beautifully hand-knit hats and mittens from Betty Tripp of Old Town. During the long winter months ahead, needy children in the region will welcome them warmly.

Other donations arrived from Nautical Products Corp., doing business as Mainely Buoys, Brewer, $50; Rene M. Dennison, Carmel, $50; Billy Tapley, West Brooksville, $10; and Anne and Gene Mawhinney, Orono, $100.

Contributing anonymously: Hartland $20; Bangor, $200; Bangor, $25; and Bangor, $100.

If you haven’t contributed yet but would like to, please send your donation to Santa’s Helper Fund, P.O. Box 1329, Bangor 04402-1329. Names of contributors and donation amounts received by December 31 will be published in the Santa’s Helper column in the Bangor Daily News. Donors who prefer to remain anonymous will be listed as such, followed by their donation amounts. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
