Riots edge Ponies in OT

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Jesse White’s jump shot and two Nick Heitmann free throws opened the overtime and gave Orono the lead for good en route to a 58-54 overtime victory over Foxcroft Academy on Thursday.

Heitmann finished with 11 points for the Red Riots, Derek Sinclair had 10, Justin Perron contributed nine, and White finished with eight.

Danny White had a game-high 24 points, including the basket that forced the OT. Matt Carey added nine and Pat Lizotte and Josh Withee had eight each.

At Millinocket, Derek DiFerderico and Devin Johnson each netted 15 points as the Minutemen held the Patriots of Milo to one field goal in the fourth quarter en route to the comeback.

Kevin McLaughlin scored six of his 12 points in the fourth, and Stearns went 5-for-6 from the foul line in the final quarter.

Dustin Perkins led the Patriots with 11 points. Justin and Jordan Allen added 10 each.

Old Town 2, Foxcroft 1

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Ray Vachon chased down a clearing pass by Adam Langlais and scored a shorthanded goal with 17 seconds remaining, lifting the Indians to victory over the Ponies.

Josh Fournier had tied the game for 1-3 Old Town, scoring seven minutes into the third period off assists by Nick Buck and Josh Buzzell. J.P. Stowe racked up 27 saves on 28 shots for the Indians.

Corey Beaulieu scored a shorthanded breakaway goal 20 seconds into the second period for 1-2 Foxcroft Academy. Dan Perkins made 22 saves on 24 shots.
