FORT KENT- The University of Maine at Fort Kent again will offer a French immersion camp for children during the summer.

The camp is being made possible with the financial support from the MBNA Foundation’s Maine Excellence in Education grants program.

The UMFK academic outreach office, in partnership with Fort Kent Elementary School, was successful in applying for a $2,100 grant.

It is expected that some students will return and build upon their experiences. In past years, children who were vacationing from downstate have participated in the camp.

Participants spend the day learning new words, singing songs and telling stories. They also integrate their new language into crafts, games and field trips.
