Indians edge Riots in OT

ORONO – Mallory Brown paced a balanced effort with 17 points Wednesday night as the Old Town girls basketball team earned a 60-54 overtime victory over Orono.

Kasey Spencer tossed in 15 points, Sarah Metivier netted 11 and Renee Thibodeau added 10 for the Indians.

Jess Wagner connected for a game-high 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Orono. Molly Dupere scored 16 points, including a 3-pointer that sent the game into overtime.

At Sukee Arena in Winslow, the Rams scored five unanswered goals in the third period to secure their first win.

Eddie Frost, Pat Frazier and Ben Payson each scored two goals for 1-4-1 Bangor. John Huhn, Brian Lever and Grant Bailey added one each. Ryan Largay had two assists and Frazier added one.

Dominic Dinardo made 17 saves on 19 shots.

Will Richard tallied twice for 2-4 Lawrence of Fairfield, and Nate Lovitz assisted on both. Jake Mitchell and Ben Walz combined for 22 saves on 31 shots.

Waterville 10, Brewer 1

At T.J. Ryan Arena in Brewer, Nate Hart racked up three goals and four assists as Waterville cruised past Brewer.

Zach Pelletier also recorded a hat trick for the 5-1 Panthers. Corey Gardner added two goals and two assists and Chris Morgan logged three assists.

Marc Dostie and Eric Theriault combined to make 18 saves on 19 shots.

For Brewer, Andy Pooler scored on a pass from Matt Grimes. Rob Elliott registered 27 saves on 37 shots.
