Basic training

BANGOR – Army Pvt. 1st Class Troy P. Hood has graduated from basic infantry military training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

Hood is the son of Holly Hood of Cartersville, Ga., and the grandson of Theresa Corcoran of Glenburn. He is a 2001 graduate of Bangor High School.

OLD TOWN – Army Pvt. Sean C. Miller has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

Miller, a 2000 graduate of Old Town High School, is the son of Janet and Keith Miller of Old Town.

Commissions

GLENBURN – James W. McLeod, a resident of Glenburn and native of Bangor, has been commissioned an ensign in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

McLeod, a graduate of Bangor Christian School, owns and operates WBGR Family 33 TV. In addition to WBGR and other media outlets, McLeod owns a video production company.

McLeod, 34, took the oath of office during a ceremony held recently at the Naval Reserve Center in Bangor.

As a naval officer, McLeod will be assigned to the Naval Reserve Navy Information Bureau 101, a New England-based public affairs unit. The Naval Reserve’s oldest public affairs unit, NIB 101 is attached to the Naval War College in Newport, R.I.
