Days of Dwight

It is upsetting to come back to Pittsfield after living here for more than 50 years to read that D. Dwight Dogherty Jr. is leaving the town after many years. Does the current council understand or remember the days of Dwight; the days when Pittsfield had the worst credit rating of any municipality in the state and within six months, was righted to meet the credit rating needed by the state to obtain loans? The local council needs to grow up and understand what they are doing.

What are the councilmen and women thinking when they allow a man of this stature to leave?

I haven’t missed a vote in this town for more than 30 years. But, I don’t remember voting for a person who might have the lack of intelligence to make such an important decision as to vote or help lead Dwight out of office. If I did, I was wrong. I won’t do it again.
