Fort Kent skating rink open as weather allows

FORT KENT – The Fort Kent Recreation and Parks Department has announced the Jalbert Skating Rink schedule for the season, weather permitting.

Public skating will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays, from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. After school and vacation weeks will be added to the schedule on public demand.

Skate rentals are available for $1.50. A concession stand is open and skates can be sharpened for $1.50. Admission is 50 cents per person. Fort Kent resident can purchase a season pass for $10 or a family pass for $20.

The department will do its best to keep the rink open, but reminds the public that it takes time to clean the ice after a storm and that warmer weather can produce unsafe situations that can ruin the ice.

When the temperature is minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit, the rink will be closed. For information call 834-5773 or 834-3730.
