Raiders knock off Calais

EAST MACHIAS – Nick Reynolds scored 27 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to help the Washington Academy Raiders hand the Calais Blue Devils their first loss of the season in schoolboy basketball action Monday night.

Bobby Richardson added 18 points for the Raiders and Jared Gray added 13.

Joe Footer led Calais with 22 points while Darren Morrell had 13 and James Provencher chipped in with 12.

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Jared Sylvia’s goal off a Mitchell Hall assist with 10 minutes left in the game proved to be the difference as the Black Hawks edged Old Town.

Ben Carton scored two goals for the 2-7 Black Hawks while Chris Austin had a goal and an assist. Kevin Carton scored the other goal and Brandon Carmichael made 24 saves on 28 shots.

For the 1-5 Indians, Joey Guerrette, Josh Buzzell, Adam Langlais, and David Marley each scored a goal. J.P. Stowe saved 49 of 54 shots.
