HAMPDEN – An Old Town man died Tuesday afternoon after he was ejected from his car in a rollover on Interstate 95.
Just after 4 p.m., Michael Morin, 40, was headed north on Interstate 95 when he drifted off the roadway in his GMC Envoy and hit a snowbank, according to Trooper Vicki Gardner of the Maine State Police. Gardner said the sport utility vehicle rolled over completely at least once, and Morin was ejected and landed in a snowbank.
He was the only person in the vehicle.
Morin was apparently trying to raise his head when emergency crews arrived, Gardner said, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on him. He was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center by ambulance with serious injuries and died a short time later.
Gardner said there wasn’t any indication that drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident and the cause is still under investigation.
Morin was believed to be returning from a legislative meeting in Augusta when the accident occurred, Gardner said. Morin was the senior manager of computer and technical services at the University of Maine.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department and Hampden fire and police departments also went to the scene.
