Classes are available in Quick Books Pro 2000, Microsoft Office Applications, Computer-Aided Drafting and Design, National Electric Code update, Hydraulics, Programmable Logic Controllers, Wiring for the Homeowner, Basic Machine Tool, High Pressure Boilers, Refrigerant Certification, Cisco Network Support and Management, GIS and GPS, Woodworking, Photography, Private Pilot Ground School, Metal Casting and Welding.

NESCom

BANGOR – Johanna Cuervo of Bogata, Colombia, who is completing her first year in the two-year associate degree program, is one of 13 students at the New England School of Communications, an affiliate of Husson College, to be awarded scholarships on the basis of academic achievement and citizenship.

The recipient of a $500 Brian Welch Scholarship, Cuervo is already a graduate of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia with a bachelor’s degree in social communication. She plans to return to that country in hopes of stimulating Colombian television to produce children’s programs that emphasize Colombian customs, history and tradition.

The Brian Welch Scholarship is named for the late Brian Welch, a former student at NESCom.

Also selected for a scholarship by the school faculty was Patricia Plourde of Lincoln, a second-year student in the associate degree program, who received the $500 Diane Kasparek Scholarship, named for the late wife of a NESCom faculty member.

Maine Association of Broadcasters Scholarships of $400 each were awarded to:

. Robyn Pendleton of Camden, a second-year student in the bachelor’s degree program.

. Katherine White of Vassalboro, a first-year student in the bachelor’s degree program.

. Doug Hoyt of Bangor, a second-year student in the associated degree program.

Receiving NESCom scholarships were:

. Haley Foshay of North Vassalboro, a first-year student in the associate degree program, $500.

. Adreanna Denis of Bucksport, a first-year student in the associate degree program, $500.

. Leah Atwood of East Millinocket, a second-year student in the associate degree program, $500.

. Marissa Blake of Peterborough, N.H., a first-year student in the associate degree program, $500.

. Kristina Garcelon of Hermon, a first-year student in the bachelor’s program, $250.

. Adam Buckwalter of Bass Harbor, a second-year student in the associate degree program, $250.

The Television Production Scholarship went to Andre Cormier of Canaan, a second-year student in the associate degree program, $250; while the WHSN-Radio Scholarship was awarded to Kimberly Curtis of Old Orchard Beach, a junior in the bachelor’s program, $250.

Saint Anselm College

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Stuart E. Cooper was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Saint Anselm College.

Cooper is a graduate of Bangor High School and the son of John and Lynne Cooper of Bangor.
