ROCKLAND – Knox County sheriff’s detectives are hoping to catch the culprits who stole more than 200 pounds of lobster in November from Maine Coast Seafood.

The suspects are Bryce Larkin, 22, of Spruce Head and Doreen Beerman, 44, of Rockland, police said Friday.

Larkin is being sought on two counts of burglary and one count each of theft and aggravated criminal mischief. Beerman has more than one warrant out for her arrest. One is for failure to appear in court Tuesday on charges of operating under the influence and operating beyond license restrictions. A second warrant charges Beerman with two counts of burglary and one count of criminal mischief in connection with the theft of the lobsters.

On Nov. 14, Beerman was stopped by Rockland police for allegedly driving intoxicated.

Police found 136 live lobsters crawling around the inside of her Geo sedan. Once the sea critters were seen, the sheriff’s department and Maine Marine Patrol got involved. Later, another 50 pounds of cooked lobster and five dead lobsters were discovered at an undisclosed home.

On Tuesday, Beerman was supposed to appear in 6th District Court on the OUI and operating beyond restriction charges. She did not show up.

Since November, detectives have been looking for Larkin, who also is a suspect in the theft of the lobsters.
