HAMPDEN – An accident at the intersection of Mecaw Road and Route 202 Friday afternoon resulted in the emergency transport of two people.
Just before 4 p.m., a Plymouth Voyager collided with a Mercury Sable, causing the Voyager to go through a snowbank and down over an embankment.
Chunks of plastic and glass were sprayed onto Route 202 and traffic was closed down to a single lane for nearly an hour while emergency crews cleared the accident scene.
Both vehicles had front-end damage. Hampden police Officer Joel Small reported to the scene. At least one of the drivers and another person were taken by ambulance to a hospital before Small could obtain information. The identities and details of the injuries to the two people were not available Friday night.
The Hampden Fire Department and Winterport Ambulance also responded to the accident.
