FORT KENT – C.J. Vose scored 28 points Sunday afternoon as Saint Joseph’s College of Standish posted a 75-59 Maine Athletic Conference men’s basketball victory over UMaine-Fort Kent.

Brandon Stewart tallied 16 points and Bilal Dawan-Abdullah added 14 for Saint Joseph’s of Standish.

Stafford Bente notched 11 for the Bengals, who suffered their first league loss.

Women’s hockey

Northeastern sweeps UMaine

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Northeastern rolled to a 3-0 win Saturday before holding off two UMaine rallies in a 4-3 Sunday win.

Northeastern improves to 16-2, 10-2 in league play, while Maine drops to 8-11-2, 2-8-2.

On Saturday, the Black Bears (8-11-2, 2-8-2) outshot Northeastern 34-20 but weren’t able to solve goaltender Chanda Gunn.

Brooke Whitney scored one goal and assisted on Lindsay Ball’s tally and Brooke White scored one for NU (16-2, 10-2).

Lara Smart made 17 saves for the Bears.

On Sunday, the Huskies took a 2-0 lead before the Bears rallied in a wild final period.

Meagan Aarts scored back-to-back goals for the Bears to make it 2-2 midway through the third but NU pushed the lead to 4-2 with tallies from White and Whitney.

Pamela Pachal and Ball scored the Huskies’ first two goals. Gunn made 22 saves.

Jamie Hill scored for UMaine with 21 seconds left off assists from Aarts and Cindy Biron. Smart made 27 saves.
