ORONO – Brooke Bradburn’s second goal of the game, come off a Barbara Prell assist with just 1:19 left, gave Niagara University a 4-3 victory over the University of Maine Black Bears in women’s hockey action Friday.
Niagara, ranked fifth in the country in the latest polls, improved to 17-5 overall, 11-2 in the Eastern Women’s Hockey League. Maine fell to 8-12-2, 2-9-2.
Sophomore right wing Karen Droog scored Maine’s three goals.
Valerie Hall and Candice Ceelen staked Niagara to a 2-0 lead in the first 4:18 of the game but Droog tied it with the lone goal of the second period and an early third-period goal.
Bradburn’s shorthanded goal regained the lead for Niagara with 8:08 left but Droog equalized on the power play with 5:44 remaining.
Tania Pinelli finished with 20 saves for Niagara.
Kelly Nelson and Meagan Aarts had two assists apiece for Maine and Dawn Froats made 17 saves.

At Stony Brook, N.Y., Chris Brown scored 18 points and had 15 rebounds to lead New Hampshire to a 75-68 victory over Stony Brook.
Marcus Bullock added 15 points and Austin Ganly 13 for the Wildcats (5-11, 2-3 America East), who led 35-28 at halftime.
D.J. Munir shot 5-of-8 from 3-point range and finished with 27 points for the Seawolves (3-15, 2-5).
Bullock made two foul shots to give New Hampshire a 52-42 lead at 12:57 of the second half.
Mike Orfini scored four points during the Seawolves’ 11-3 run that cut the Wildcats’ lead to 55-53 at 7:53.
Ganly then scored six points to key New Hampshire’s 10-1 run that opened up the largest lead of the game for the Wildcats, 67-56 with 3:02 left.
Brown scored six points as New Hampshire jumped out to a 14-2 lead at 14:02 of the first half.
Stony Brook, which was outrebounded 45-29, used a 10-2 run to get as close as 29-24 in the first half on Munir’s 3-pointer at 3:50.
