A Bangor woman has reported that someone stole her new checks from her mailbox and has been cashing them.
Bangor police Officer Allen Hayden said in his report that 14 checks were written between Dec. 12 and Dec. 14 totaling $1,475.60.
The checks were signed with the woman’s name but contained different Maine drivers’ license numbers and different dates of birth, he said.
More than one person apparently has been cashing the checks, according to Hayden, who said none of the drivers’ licenses were valid.
An investigation is pending.
