ISLAND FALLS – A Dracut, Mass., man was hospitalized Sunday for injuries he suffered when he was thrown about 100 feet from his snowmobile after it struck a rock on Mattawamkeag Lake.

Warden Ben Drew of the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said David L’Heureux received arm injuries and was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital where he was reported in stable condition.

L’Heureux was traveling alone on a Yamaha SRX700, but was with a group of seven other snowmobilers when the accident occurred at 9 a.m., Drew said. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The snowmobile was declared a total loss.
