FRANKLIN – The historical society is offering two scholarships to local students seeking further education after high school.

The Sterling Douglas Scholarship is available to any graduating high school senior from Franklin. Applications for this scholarship may be obtained from the guidance department at Sumner Memorial High School in Sullivan and must be submitted by April 1 to Irene Obermann, 106 South Bay Road, Franklin 04634.

Also offered is the Henry Gemmill Scholarship, which is available to any Franklin resident registering for post-freshman study in college. Specifics on application requirements for this scholarship may be obtained from Obermann or from any University of Maine guidance department. Applications for this scholarship are due with transcripts by April 15.
