FORT KENT – University of Maine at Fort Kent alumnus Melik Peter Khoury has been named interim director of admissions.

Khoury, 28, was hired by UMFK in the fall of 2000 as assistant director of admissions and promoted to associate director last July.

He led a successful recruiting campaign that resulted in a 15 percent increase in the fall 2001 incoming class.

An international student from Gambia in western Africa, Khoury first came to UMFK in 1995 as a freshman in the business management program. He spent nearly four years of his tenure as a student assisting in the university’s recruitment efforts.

After leaving, Khoury spent a year at the University of Maine, working toward his master’s degree in business administration, which he earned last spring.
