Foul shots lift NMTC to victory

PRESQUE ISLE – Tina Picard and Morgan Saucier combined to make eight of 10 free throws down the stretch to help Northern Maine Technical College hold on for a 62-59 women’s basketball victory over New Brunswick Bible Institute.

Becky Chamberlain poured in 23 points to pace the Falcons while Saucier tossed in 17 and Picard chipped in with 12.

Celena Oderkirk led New Brunswick Bible Institute with 17 points. Heidi Madeirns and Amy Duncan notched 10 each.

At Fort Kent on Wednesday, the UMaine-Presque Isle Owls outscored the UM-Fort Kent Bengals 33-25 in the second half to rally from a four-point halftime deficit for the victory.

Erin Schloeman paced the winners with 13 points and Erica McGary contributed 11 points and 12 rebounds. Megan Amero and Sam Berry each added 10 points.

Heidi Fisher led UMFK with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Jaime Doucette added 12 points and Allison Lutz netted 10.

At Fort Kent on Wednesday, the UMaine-Fort Kent Bengals nailed 14 of 34 3-pointers and ran past the UM-Presque Isle Owls in the second half.

Mo Young led UMFK with 22 points while Andrew Clavette and Barry Bryant each added 17. Kenyon Clover chipped in with 13 points and Matt Daudier had 10 points and six assists.

Dan Emerson paced UMPI with 18 points and six assists while Vjeko Jadric chipped in with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Cliff Smith added 14 points, Craig Smith netted 11 and Tim Dolley had 10.
