The announcement was made Friday during the board’s annual meeting. In making the announcement, Thomas Qualey, board president, said the board was pleased with the selection of Flannery.

“Don brings years of experience to the position, and is familiar with the day-to-day operations of Maine’s potato industry,” Qualey said in a prepared statement. “We congratulate Don on his new position and look forward to working closely with him to advance the interests of the industry.”

Flannery, an Aroostook County native, has served as assistant executive director of the Maine Potato Board for more than four years. He has worked in all aspects of the agricultural industry, including economic and business development and as a grower.
