MILLINOCKET – Ben Smith led Piscataquis back from an early deficit to a 68-46 schoolboy basketball victory over Stearns at Wentworth Gym Friday night.
The Pirates trailed 18-15 despite nine first-quarter points from Smith. He added six points in the second quarter as the Pirates gained a 32-30 advantage and six more points in the third as the Pirates extended their lead to 10 points.
Smith finished with 23 points. Keith Dawson netted 11 points.
Kevin McLaughlin led the Minutemen with 16 points. Derek DiFrederico added 11 points.

Dexter’s Travis Patterson scored all of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, including four 3-pointers. Brett Towle scored 15 points, including five 3-pointers, Matt Mountain added 14 points for the Tigers, and Dustin Paige scored 10.
