ORONO – Nicole Munro and Jamie Hill scored two goals each Friday night to propel the University of Maine to a 7-1 women’s hockey victory over Quinnipiac at Alfond Arena.
Meagan Aarts, Cheryl White, and Cailee Heggestad scored a goal apiece for 10-12-2 Maine, which improved to 4-9-2 in league play. The Bears led 3-0 after two periods, then tacked on four third-period tallies to put the game away.
Dawn Froats made 11 saves to backstop the win for Maine, which outshot the visitors 50-12.
Gillian Gallagher scored the goal for Quinnipiac, which slipped to 3-15-2, 0-11 in conference play. Mel Courtemanche racked up 40 saves for the Braves, while Catherine Lapare made three.
Colby 5, Hamilton 1
At Alfond Arena in Waterville, Lauren Gremelspacher provided a goal and an assist to lead the White Mules to victory.
Meghan Barringer, Kelley Jessopp, Jill Young and Caitlin Krause scored one goal apiece for 10-1-1 Colby. Kate Sweeney notched two assists while Kristen Putnam, Mallory Young, Jennifer Anderson and Heather DeVito added one apiece.
Lynn Hasday made 14 saves on 15 shots.
Eden Self tallied the goal for 6-10 Williams, while Jen Kroleski piled up 40 saves on 45 shots.
Men’s hockey
Colby 4, Wesleyan 0
At Middletown, Conn., the White Mules scored four times in a six-minute span of the first period, accounting for all the scoring.
Evan Kearns led Colby with a goal and an assist, while Jared Gordon, Nick Meintel and Cory Ernst netted a goal apiece. Bobby Nagle, Mike Higgins, Ross MacMillan, Mike Dalton and Brock Barton notched assists for the 10-3-2 Mules, who are 8-2-2 in New England Small College Athletic Conference action.
Jesse Kucenic registered 20 saves to post the shutout.
Dusty Nolin made 14 saves on 18 shots before giving way to Jim Panczykowski, who stopped all 31 shots he faced.

At Waterville, the Ephs pulled out to a 17-point halftime lead and the White Mules couldn’t answer.
Jaris Cole paced Williams with 20 points, while Drew DeMuth chipped in with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Damien Strahorn’s 15 points led the Colby effort, while Sean Flood provided 17 points and nine rebounds.

At Williamstown, Mass., Kate Stumpo scored 18 points and dished out seven assists to lead the Ephs to victory over the White Mules.
Amy Dieckmann contributed 11 poitns and 13 rebounds for 12-4 Williams, which has won eight straight and improved to 3-0 in NESCAC play.
Sarah Walsh paced Colby with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Bianca Belcher provided 10 points.
Ohio St. 70, No. 23 Minnesota 66
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Courtney Coleman had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Didi Reynolds hit the go-ahead free throws with 5.1 seconds to play as Ohio State beat No. 23 Minnesota 70-66 Friday night.
Coleman made two free throws with 1:24 left to give the Buckeyes (10-10, 5-4 Big Ten) a 66-64 lead. But the Golden Gophers (14-4, 4-3) tied it on Kadidja Andersson’s turnaround jumper 22 seconds later.
After Reynolds couldn’t hit the front end of a one-and-one with 42 seconds to play, Minnesota’s Lindsay Lieser missed a 3-pointer for the lead.
