BANGOR – The executive director of the South Dakota Board of Regents has been named the third and final candidate for University of Maine System chancellor.
Robert T. “Tad” Perry will visit Maine next week to meet with University of Maine System trustees, faculty, staff and students.
The South Dakota System comprises the University of South Dakota, Black Hills State University, Dakota State University, Northern State University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and South Dakota State University.
Perry requested that his name be announced after those of his competitors because of a project in which he was involved, according to Jim Mullen, chairman of the University of Maine System board of trustees.
Perry has been at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., as associate vice president, assistant provost, executive assistant for fiscal relations and chair and professor of political science. During this period he also served as the chief operating officer for Indiana’s Partnership for Statewide Education, a statewide consortium for the development and delivery of distance education programs in Indiana.
He has a bachelor’s degree from Central Methodist College, and Master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Missouri.
Perry will be at the Portland campus of the University of Southern Maine on from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, and at the University of Maine at Augusta for a visit with the University of Maine at Farmington representatives from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and with the University of Maine at Augusta representatives from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.
Perry will visit the University of Maine System office in Bangor from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, with representatives from the University of Maine at Machias and at the University of Maine from 1 to 3 p.m.
He also will participate Jan. 30 in a live question and answer interactive television session at the University of Maine that will be broadcast systemwide from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.
He will be at the University of Maine at Presque Isle from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, with representatives of the University of Maine at Fort Kent. He will visit with representatives of the University of Maine at Presque Isle from 11 a.m. to noon.
