POLAND – A two-car accident on Route 26 in Poland has left one person dead and two others injured.
Helene Perkins, 87, of Falmouth was killed in the crash, which took place at 3 p.m. Saturday near the New Gloucester line, the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department said.
Perkins was a passenger in a car driven by Harold Dunham, 83, of Windham, which collided with a car driven by Aaron Ouellette, 24, of Waterford, said Detective William Gagne. Ouellette, Perkins, Dunham and Dunham’s wife, Clarabelle, 81, were transported to Central Maine Medical Center, where Perkins died of her injuries.
Harold Dunham had to be extricated from the wreckage and was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to the Lewiston hospital; the three others were transported by ambulance.
On Sunday, Dunham was listed in critical condition and Ouellette in stable condition.
Mrs. Dunham was in the hospital overnight for observation.
