CAPE ELIZABETH – The state’s largest foot race – the Peoples Beach to Beacon 10K – will get even larger this year as organizers have announced that they will expand the field from 4,000 runners to 5,000 beginning this year.
The fifth anniversary edition of the race will be held Aug. 3 in Cape Elizabeth, and proceeds will benefit Opportunity Farm, a long-term, family-style residential facility for at-risk Maine youth.
The Peoples Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race was founded by Joan Benoit Samuelson, the 1984 Olympic marathon gold medalist. Runners seeking more information can check www.beach2beacon.org.
