BANGOR – The Rangeley Cafe at Eastern Maine Technical College reopened for the spring semester on Jan. 23.
The cafe, explained Jay Demers, chef and instructor at the college, is the training restaurant for students studying culinary arts there.
The restaurant is open on Wednesdays and Fridays for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters.
“Senior culinary students prepare and serve the food in authentic fashion,” Demers said. “This semester offers patrons international cuisine, which will include culinary delights from Austria, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Spain, China, Thailand, and the Caribbean. During other semesters, guests might see Classical French Cuisine or American Regional Cuisine, depending which classes are being taught.”
Demers described a visit to the Rangeley Cafe as “not only an experience to be enjoyed, but a great way for the public to help support the college and try some foods that may not be familiar to them.”
Luncheon meals include assorted breads and rolls, soup, choice of beverage, appetizer, entr?e, and dessert for just $7 per person.
“Guests should plan on a minimum of one hour to enjoy the culinary experience,” Demers said. “Current customers rave about the food and service received from our passionate and perfectionist students. Won’t you come and experience it for yourself? The restaurant is located in 501C Rangeley Hall at the end of the Sylvan Road.”
Reservations are required and may be made by calling the Rangeley Cafe at 941-4830. Weekly menus are available electronically by sending one’s name and e-mail address to Demers at jdemers@emtc.org.
