BANGOR – A Valentine’s bazaar will be presented by the Bangor singing group Women With Wings from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Bangor, 120 Park St. Admission is free.
A silent auction and 50-50 raffle will be held to raise money for the Women With Wings CD and songbook, “Hand in Hand and Heart to Heart.” Women With Wings also will invite people to sing with them throughout the afternoon.
Valentine’s Day gifts will be available from area craftswomen and herbalists, and an accessories table will feature vintage jewelry, gloves, hats, scarves and other items.
The noted Women With Wings dessert tables will offer sweet treats, with all proceeds to benefit the CD-songbook project.
Women With Wings is in its eighth year. Every Thursday night, 30 to 60 women meet at 7 p.m. to sing chants, rounds and songs of empowerment and affirmation in circle.
The group also has performed at nursing homes, the Maine Festival, the Beautiful Project and in benefit concerts for local service agencies that help women and children.
The CD-songbook project, “Hand in Hand and Heart to Heart,” will feature original music by members of Women With Wings. It will be released in July.
