PRESQUE ISLE – Fred Bird hit the game-winner for the Presque Isle boys basketball team when he grabbed an offensive rebound and laid it in with one second left as the Wildcats knocked off Bangor 46-44 Saturday in high school action.

Nick Casavant, who wears No. 34, scored his 1,000th point 34 seconds into the game. He finished with a game-high 20 points.

Bird racked up 18 points and eight rebounds. Matt Fortin grabbed seven rebounds. Presque Isle swept the season series with the win.

Zak Ray and Buddy Nickerson each scored 13 points for Bangor.

During the busy high school season, the NEWS asks that managers and coaches for the home teams promptly report the games. Games can be reported starting at 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Games can not be reported on Saturday.
