In response to the letter written by Leonidas B. Hayes (BDN, Jan. 30), I must take offense to his description of the female streakers, Kathryn Mann and Debra Ballou, as “two of our newest heroes.” Since when does a juvenile stunt, such as streaking and the subsequent nonsense citing it as a protest against “federal legislation expanding police powers” qualify as heroism?
What an insult to the many true heroes in our midst, such as our military, police officers, firefighters and rescue workers.
These people are truly courageous. What Ms. Mann and Ms. Ballou did was a purely childish act and nothing more.
