Kevin Massiah added 18 points, Kevin Jolley tallied 14 and Dan Rumph chipped in with 12 for the 22-4 winners. Rumph was named MVP of the tournament.

Women’s hockey

Maine sweeps Vermont

At Alfond Arena in Orono Sunday, Cailee Heggestad and Tracy Caridade each put in a second-period goal to help the Black Bears earn a 2-0 win over the Catamounts, completing a weekend sweep of Vermont. Maine won 6-0 Saturday.

In Sunday’s game, Cheryl White and Karen Droog each had an assist. Amanda Cronin stopped 10 shots for Maine, now 13-12-2.

Tiffany Hayes made 45 saves on 47 shots for Vermont, which falls to 1-21-1.

In Saturday’s game, Meagan Aarts racked up two goals and two assists for the Black Bears.

UMaine fired in four goals in the first period and never looked back.

Laura Maddin, Tristan Desmet, Caridade and White all added a goal for Maine. Nicole Munro dished out three assists while Kelly Nelson, Jamie Hill, Cindy Biron, Heggestad and Rebecca Ouellet contributed an assist each for the 12-12-2 Bears.

Dawn Froats and Lara Smart combined for seven saves on seven shots for Maine. Hayes stopped 53 of 59 shots for the Catamounts.

At Bangor, Liz Boone scored 17 points, ripped down 14 rebounds and blocked two shots to pace the Braves on Saturday.

Megan Hughes scored 19 more for the Braves.

Heidi Fisher scored 14 to go with 10 rebounds for the Bengals while Nikki Brown scored 10 points and grabbed 10 boards.
