CALAIS – Katie Frost scored eight of her 15 points to spark a 20-9 fourth quarter as the Calais Blue Devils beat the Woodland Dragons 61-48 to win the Downeast Athletic Conference championship in schoolgirl basketball action Wednesday night.

Lanna Martin paced Calais with 16 points while Crystal Martin and Nanci Feck each added 12.

Ashley Marble led Woodland with 17 points and Julia Knights put in 12.

At the Bangor Auditorium, Hannah Socoby scored 24 points, including two baskets in the final minute, to lift the Shiretowners to a win in the first Big East Conference Class B championship game.

Houlton forced nine Mount Desert Island turnovers in the third quarter to come back from a six-point halftime deficit, while Sarah Beasley contributed 11 points.

Bracey Barker led the Trojans with 14 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. Shelley Gott added seven rebounds.

At East Machias, Nick Reynolds scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Washington Academy by the Royals and to the Downeast Athletic Conference title.

Reynolds scored nine points to spark WA’s 24-13 third-quarter scoring surge. Bobby Richardson and Jared Gray each finished with nine points and Richardson had nine rebounds.

Alvin Beal paced the Royals with 18 points and Abraham Beal netted 13.
