AUGUSTA – On Sunday, Feb. 10, Democrats throughout the state will gather for town Democratic caucuses, held every two years. Party activists will select delegates to this year’s Democratic State Convention, elect local officers, nominate party representatives to work at Election Day polling places and conduct other official party business.

“With open gubernatorial and congressional seats, a hotly contested Senate race, and an evenly divided state Senate, we have an opportunity to determine the face of Maine politics for the next 10 years,” said Maine Democratic Party Chairwoman Gwethalyn Phillips.

This year’s Democratic State Convention will be held May 31 and June 1 at the Augusta Civic Center. Exact times and locations for each town’s caucus can be found on the Maine Democratic Party Web site at www.mainedems.org by clicking on “Caucus 2002.”
