Fletcher, Braves slip past MMA

BANGOR – Randy Fletcher tossed in 17 points and ripped down nine rebounds as Husson College slipped past Maine Maritime Academy 66-58 in a men’s basketball contest at Newman Gym Thursday night.

Ryan Rivera and Robert Pilsbury countered with 13 each for the Braves. Rivera also went 6-for-6 from the foul line.

Jed Johnson sparked the Mariners of Castine with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Matt Clement scored 14 points and hauled down 11 rebounds.

At Machias, Gill Guest tossed in 14 points and hauled down 10 rebounds as the Clippers tipped the Mariners.

Miranda Richardson connected for 11 points for UM-Machias. Kristen Magnussen added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Kate Lawler poured in a game-high 20 points for Maine Maritime of Castine. Stacey James knocked in 12.
