I was amazed at the speed of law enforcement officials on Jan. 31 who were going north on I-95 between Augusta and Millinocket. I set my cruise control on 74 mph and was passed by not less than five law enforcement vehicles.
It started when I was passed by a marked state trooper police car as I went by the rest area just north of Augusta at 3:15 p.m. I was then passed by a town of Baileyville police car at Pittsfield at 3:40 p.m., a Passamaquoddy police vehicle at Newport at 3:55 p.m., and unmarked state police car at Bangor (3386IN), where the speed is only 55 mph at 4:30 p.m. and Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife pick-up truck at Mattamiscontis at 5:25 p.m.
Don’t these and other law enforcement people understand just how cynical the public is when they think they are above the law? Don’t they understand that speed kills?
