EM Tech defeats UM-Augusta

BANGOR – Daryl Watson scored 22 points to help lead Eastern Maine Technical College to a 74-70 men’s basketball win over the University of Maine-Augusta in a Yankee Conference playoff game Tuesday night.

Stu Morin contributed with 18 points for the Golden Eagles while Jesse Haskell had 17 and Kris Douglas added 13.

Mark Rivers led UMA with 23 points while Chris Melgard and Nate Savage each scored 16.

At Boston, Billy Allen scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Beacons past the University of Southern Maine.

Roderic Jean-Joseph and Jake Luhn scored 17 and 14 points, respectively for the Beacons.

Freshman Ryan Garland of Hermon led the Huskies with 18 points while Etna’s Jeff White had 10.

At Boston, Jessica Libby scored 17 points and dished out four assists; Meg Cressler had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Kara Crockett contributed 14 points and three blocked shots as USM built a seven-point halftime lead and held on.

Niki Dominiczak had 10 points for the winners while UMass-Boston received 18 points and 16 rebounds from Andreen Gilpin; 14 points, 12 rebounds and five assists from Felicia Haynes and 10 points from Jamila Gales.
